In October 2018, Big Olive staged a series of thematic activities for the Tangents Greece Music Tour in Athens. Tangents is a San Francisco-based pioneer “genre-bending” radio that explores the bridges connecting diverse music styles including world and roots music, and creative jazz hybrids.

About the Tangents tour

There were 11 world class concerts during the 17 nights. Dore Stein, the trip’s curator, has cultivated relationships with some of Greece’s finest musicians.

“There is considerable momentum from the 2017 tour as artists, managers, club owners, etc. had a wonderful experience during the inaugural Tangents Greece Music Tour.

Among the artists who will be part of the 2018 music tour are Cretan lyra master Ross Daly, singer Kristi Stassinopoulou, Crete’s Daulute Trio, the 8 piece Loxandra Ensemble, Alekos Vretos Quintet, the oud/percussion duo Wahid with special guests Anna Linardou and Vaso Dinmitriou, and the Balarom Trio.

Flying in from Cyprus will be Monsieur Doumani. This outstanding Greek Cypriot trio is based in Nicosia, Cyprus. They’re quickly gaining popularity throughout Europe based on glowing media coverge of their terrific new cd Angathin.

The last concert to come together is the ensemble “Argateia”” (means collaboration and solidarity between people) featuring singer Elsa Mouratidou.

The concerts are in intimate settings throughout Greece. The concerts are in Athens, Thessaloniki,  Chania and Ioannina.

The Tangents tour itinerary also includes Pelion (mountain above Volos), the other worldly UNESCO World Heritage Site Meteora and two gorgeous beaches, one in Crete and the other in Pelion. We also soak up culture via several ‘alternative’ walking tours in Athens and Thessaloniki”
