Stroll#2: Triangle of Utopia _ Special school walk_13th of July

In early 19th century Greece waged a war against the Ottoman Empire and emerged as a nation-state founded upon the ruins of an ancient civilisation. Soon European architects will arrive in the new capital Athens to materialise King Otto’s Utopia in neoclassical garb. The complex urban identity that emerged is best depicted at Trigono, the triangle-shaped area delineated by the city's main squares and axes.

Stroll in a nutshell
Over the course of this stroll you will be presented with the first city plans of Athens and their main revisions; led through public edifices, back alleys and the main markets; and be told anecdotal stories of visionaries -architects, artists and merchants- who left an indelible mark on the area that is now touted as city’s urban heart.
